Below is an update with photos from this spectacular evening, a final donation tally, and how to purchase a tshirt if you missed your chance that night. And just when I thought I had thanked everyone that I thought deserved recognition during the opening of the ceremony....I'd like to include a few more if I may.....

Thank you to local Perth photographer, Matthew Goddard-Jones who generously offered his time on the night of Global Mala Perth and afterwards to reveal these powerful images in both colour and black + white.

Thank you to Peter Mills, our web designer/developer who is continuing on this project from North Carolina, USA.

Thank you to local videographer, Matthew Knight who continues to edit a 2 minute trailer for this site and just completed and mailed to the States a 27 minute edited copy of the events of our night to Yogamates.com who will add Perth to the global documentary of 1000s of events around the world.

Thank you to Tamara Graham (co-organiser) for tallying the donations raised for our benefiting organisations, sending off the checks and for maybe considering organising Global Mala Perth 2008!

The total raised before expenses was $9,904.30.

If you didn't get a chance to purchase one of the women's baby tees or men's shirts that night...no worries...there are still more available.  Contact Tamara Graham (tamara@tamarayoga.com) to arrange picking one up at her studio at 10/24 St Quentin Ave, Claremont.  She can guide you on how to donate directly to Royal Flying Doctor's Service so as not to require international transfer of funds for payment.

Global Mala Perth

The purpose of Global Mala Perth is to join forces with the Global Mala Project to unite the global yoga community from every continent in the world, forming a "mala around the earth" through collective practices based upon the sacred cycle of 108.

On September 21st - 23rd, Spring Equinox and the United Nations International Day of Peace,more then 35 countries, hundreds of yoga studios and thousands of yoga practitioners worldwide will gather as a part of the Global Mala Project!

In less than two weeks, the global collective, from Hong Kong to Tel Aviv, London to Cape Town, and PERTH to the hub event in Los Angeles will form a global chain to raise awareness and funds for War Child, Youth Aids, Trees for the Future, and Royal Flying Doctors Service.
